Third Chime - [Voice/Action]
Action; Locked to Joshua
[Dying was surreal but painful. Feeling the blade run through her body, hearing the chime of the bell pendant ringing in her ears as all else was muted, even Beat’s screams, feeling the squeeze of Beat’s arms around her as her body began to give way to death for the second time, her lips only moving to repeat two words.
“I’m sorry.”
She had broken a promise. A promise not to get hurt for him if something bad happened… and she was sorry for what he had to see, watching her get stabbed with a blade then watch her die.
But through her guilt, she didn’t regret dying. She didn’t regret going through a terrifying experience. Because Beat was able to live. So long as he was okay, so long as he was able to walk away from that place alive… there was nothing for her to regret… except for making him go through that same terrifying experience.
After what felt like such a long time living in darkness, she finally slowly opens her eyes to see the living world once more. For a moment, she briefly thinks back on when she woke up back in the UG for the first time and nearly half expects a pin and phone to be on her person in the midst of her half unconscious state. But as her eyes adjust, instead of seeing a crowded city, she realizes she’s in someone’s living room. Not hers, but someone else’s. She carefully sits herself up on the couch she had been laying on and looks around.
Where is she?]
Voice
I’m back, everyone… Beat. [She speaks his name softly, a wave of guilt washing over her remembering what he had to go through. What she did to him.]
I'm sorry if I worried anyone... I hope everyone was able to make it back safely from the draft. It's good to see that it's over. [There's a pause] Also, thank you to anyone who looked after Beat. [Whether it was on the draft after what happened or here while he was waiting for her to come back.
He would've needed a friend, Shiki, Neku or someone else that he knew. And if someone was so kind as to be there for him? She's grateful]
I'll be home soon.

Shiki. [There’s a serious but wary tone to her voice] I need to talk to you in private about something. Are you at All Passions right now?

[action]
And there is Joshua, sitting in a nearby chair, sipping at a mug and thumbing through the journal on his lap. Soon after Rhyme sits up, he looks over towards her and puts down the mug. ]
How do you feel?
[action]
I feel... fine. [A little tired but all together fine. She moves a hand to touch the pendant unconsciously but realizes it's not there. Beat must've taken it.] How long have I been gone?
[action]
[ He sighs. He doesn't miss that motion she makes. ]
It's always a week.
[action]
Is the draft over? Did Beat... do you know if he made it back okay? [She knows from past experiences that drafts don't last more than a week generally, that's why she went ahead and asked the second question instead of waiting. She's worried]
[action]
[action]
Shifting in her seat a little, she moves on]
Did you bring me here, Joshua?
[action]
Give her some time to herself before putting on the brave face for her brother. ]
Do you want anything to eat?
[action]
A glass of water is fine.
[action]
Is anything obvious missing?
[ Of all people, Joshua knows that death penalties can sometimes be obscure, but he doesn't lose anything by asking. ]
[action]
Her vision is clear, she can hear just fine, her body doesn't feel weak and she can move her arms and legs. Her memories... she can remember Beat, he's her partner and big brother--she still can't remember those memories of them together as siblings but he told her what they were to each other a couple of months ago. Shiki and Neku are her friends that she met during the Game back home and the both of them are partners. She won't know if she can still use her pins until she goes to test them out.
As she goes through the list in her mind, she grows a little concerned though she doesn't visibly show it too much aside from a slight frown and concentrated look. It isn't something obvious, or at least as far as she can tell, it isn't obvious to her. So what is it? If it's her memories again... she won't know it.]
No, I don't think so. [Calmly stated]
[action]
[ He returns with the water, picking up his own mug so he can sit closer to her. Joshua sits across from her and holds out the glass of water. ]
Well, it isn't worth worrying over. You'll probably figure it out at some point. You can deal with it then. Just rest for now.
[action]
She reaches out to take the glass] Yes, you're right. Thank you, Joshua--
[action] oops forgot to say 1/2 WELL NOW ITS 2/2
She grabbed it, didn't she? It just slid right through though... but she flusters] I-I'm so sorry, Joshua, I thought I had it. I'll clean this up. [She carefully gets off the couch and moves to the kitchen to get a kitchen towel]
[action] GASP I FEEL SO TAKEN BY SURPRISE
[ He's not exactly enthused by the broken glassware, but it's not like he doesn't have more of them. Joshua sets his mug to the side and stands up to follow Rhyme towards the kitchen.
If she's not feeling well enough to hold a simple glass, he's not trusting her to move about without issue, either. But he won't stop her until she hurts herself. ]
[action] GOMEN SENPAI u_u
Once in the kitchen she reaches to grab one of the towels and manages to pick it up--only to have it quickly slip right through her fingers and it flops back onto the counter in a heap. She blinks and simply tries to pick it up again... and it falls.
It earns a brief pause before she tries to pick it up again, this time more observant as she does it. With the cloth in her hand, she tries to tighten her grip on it though her fingers don't move and just as quickly as before, the cloth slips through her fingers and falls back down again. Third time. Fourth if she included the glass. This can't be a coincidence. Something isn't right with her hand... ]
Joshua, could you hand me something? Not something that's glass or something that can break though. [One last test though she can guess what's happening already]
[action] /NEVAR FORGIVES
It isn't until Rhyme speaks up that he even turns towards her. He's quiet for a moment, then hands over the brush. ]
[action] FLIES INTO THE SUN
...it slides right out of her relaxed fingers and hits the ground.
There's a moment before she frowns and kneels down to scoop it up with both hands] I can't hold onto anything. I think that might be my penalty.
[action] ... what was that for
Now Joshua might be the one who can't hear only music but that's just strange. ]
Will you stay on the couch and let me clean up the mess myself now?
[ If it was a penalty, nothing to be done about it but accept it. ]
[action] i am an overdramatic fellow
Y-Yes. I'm sorry... [Then she goes to take her seat on the couch again next to the mess on the floor, a forlorn expression spread across her face. To not be able to use her hands... ]
[action] but now you're way away in the sun
You should rest up for a bit longer before you try to go anywhere.
[ It's said more because he wants her to stop and consider life without her penalty before she runs out to forget about it only to break another glass. Or worse.
Better to do it here, where she still has someone around her. ]
voice;
He's the worst brother in the world. Maybe he should have let her keep thinking he wasn't anything more than just her partner.]
Where are you? I'll come--
[No, he shouldn't. He should get someone else to do it - someone more suited to keeping her safe.]
I'll get someone to come get you.
voice;
Her voice is gentle when she speaks and she tries to smile for him.]
I want to see you, Beat. [Please]
voice;
...
........how do you feel?
[Because he has to know. He has to know what he cost her.]
voice;
The only problem that she's come to realize is that the feeling in her hands is gone. But she... doesn't want that looming over his head right now. Not when he's at his weakest]
voice;
...
Okay, that would suck, but not as hard.
He grips the pendant in his hand and it rings dully.]
...Where are you?
voice;
I'm at Joshua's house right now. [She won't lie to him. But she isn't sure if he knows where he lives or not so she adds:] I'll meet you at the plaza though, is that okay?

[voice]
[She's snapping at the girl, which she does know is unfair. But]
[voice]
[voice]
[With a sigh. She shouldn't have snapped - she feels bad already. This girl died, after all. But with no concept of how to handle it despite all her time in Luceti...]
[voice]
[She knows the other girl didn't really mean to snap at her and just wants to do something nice for her, so she smiles and speaks softly. She's very grateful]
